This is the speaker enclosure people mean when they say SVT speaker cabinet. It's all about tone. Other than the colour scheme, it is identical to the original SVT-810. Why eight 10" speakers? Ampeg learned early on that 10" speakers work much more efficiently than fifteens or eighteens' and if you put eight 10"speakers together, you can move a huge column of air. You'd need five 18" or six 15" speakers to move as much air as the SVT-810E! And they simply wouldn't be able to respond to transient peaks as quickly as tens. The SVT-810E is still manufactured using the same design dating all the way back to 1969. The Infinite Baffle design of these sealed enclosures produces vast amounts of tightly focused bass. That's why you'll find the SVT-810E on stage with such artists as Chris Squire (Yes), Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), John McVie (Fleetwood Mac), and far too many others to list here. The Mag 300H Evo III is the latest model in the range of Mag amps from Ashdown. An update 4 years in the making sees a fresh new approach to the highly regarded line, seeing some valuable extras welcomed to the party.
Let’s face it, guitarists have been the only ones with overdrive control for far too long… not anymore. The Evo III has an easily accessible overdrive control on the front of the amp, but more importantly, this can be controlled with a simple stomp on a foot switch. It's also worth mentioning that Ashdown have provided us with 5 band EQ, making it easier to personalise your tone and stand out from the crowd. You can also switch from bright to deep settings at a very convenient flick of a switch.
We’re all aware of the legendary sub harmonic generator that Ashdown have provided us with in the past and you’ll be glad to know that that has stayed put. In early 1952, the Fender® Bassman® amplified a great new invention - the Fender Precision Bass® guitar. At 50 watts, it competed easily with the common instrumentation of the day: horns, piano, small drum kit, and maybe even an electric guitar through a new 10-watt amp. Through the ’60s and ’70s, the original all-tube tweed 4x10” Bassman® was popular with rock, country and blues guitarists as a reliably great-sounding and easy-to-use guitar amp. In the ’90s, Fender released an affordable ’59 Bassman reissue amplifier to great acclaim. Many guitarists, tired of experimenting with preamps, equalisers and effects racks, rediscovered the simple pleasure of plugging into a Fender tube amp. The reissue Bassman’s wide stage coverage, touch-sensitive dynamics and full-frequency swirl make it perfect for building great tone with almost any guitar or effect, and it remains a staple of the Fender guitar amp line to this day.
